By Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva 5 June
2010, 6 PM.
At Bale Handap
On the occasion of the
celebrations for the
Italian National Day (June 2nd), the Embassy of Italy to
Indonesia
and the Italian Institute of Culture Jakarta, with the support of the
Italian
Trade Commission and Biasa Artspace, present to the Indonesian public
the
graphic art exhibition: “THE DOUBLEFOLD DREAM OF ART: 2RC BETWEEN THE
ARTIST
AND ARTIFICER. AN ALL ITALIAN
EXPERIENCE”, curated by art critic Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva.
After travelling
throughout China, in the most
important Art Academies, and more recently at the Museum of
Art of the Seoul National University, the exhibition,
comprehensive of a
large collection of graphic works of Italian and international artistswho worked together with
2RC, will be presented in
Indonesia in three
separate spaces, namely Selasar Sunaryo Art Space in
Bandung, Galeri Nasional Indonesia in Jakarta and Sangkring Art Space in
Jogjakarta.
Different
works will be on display at each
venue: the Italian and International historical artists will be
presented at
Galeri Nasional Indonesia; the Avanguardia at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space,
the
American and British artists at Sangkring Art Space, for a total of 145
graphic
works - etchings, aquatints, lithographs, embossings - and 8 copper
plates.
A
full idea of 2RC collection could therefore be
achieved only by visiting the three sections of the exhibition, which
presents the
significant results of a successful encounter between great
masters of contemporary art and Italian
excellence in engraving and printing. Quoting
the curator, Achille Bonito Oliva:
“The
collection is a crossover of the Contemporary Art History from the
60's until today. It represents an international panorama, for presence
and
quality, which is absolutely reliable to the artistic creation of
the
second half of the XX century to now days. An all Italian
creative tradition”.
Through this
important initiative, the Embassy of Italy and the Italian
Institute of Culture intend also to encourage deeper relations between
the
Italian and Indonesian Art System. Prof.
Achille Bonito Oliva will attend the openings.
